Team

Lighten is the story of a friendship, but also of a shared ambition: that of bringing reassurance, creativity and thoroughness to our clients, in a pleasant atmosphere, in order to succeed together.

After several years developing knowledge and experience in global law firms, we finally took a stand for a more agile, independent and innovative practice, working closest to our clients' interests.

Adrien Aulas

Adrien has two law degrees from the Law School of Sciences Po Paris and University Paris I. He is the president of the Youth Section of the French Association pour le Développement de l'Informatique Juridique (ADIJ) and a mentor at various startup incubators and accelerators.

Convinced that a lawyer is a natural partner for every project holder, he is committed to making its clients' move forward by answering each question with swiftness and pragmatism - as law should never remain an obstacle.

As a compulsive collector of pot plants, and because he cares for the future of his two cats, he spends a lot of time thinking of more eco-friendly ways of being a lawyer.

With a year spent in London during his studies and as a thorough fan of transalpine culture, Adrien works both in French and in English and speaks Italian fluently.

Mathias le Masne de Chermont

Mathias was lucky enough to spend part of his life between the hills of San Francisco and the glowing stones of Salamanca's cathedrals.

His experience abroad, with the DPO of one of the largest French group and in top-tier law firms led him to the conviction that law may always be construed smartly so as to serve his clients' business interests. He is dedicated to thinking non-legal implications of digital issues as well as legal ones.

As a sheer lover of electronic music and Japan, Mathias secretly works on his vinyl mixing skills with a dream to make people (and why not his clients) dance on the Shibuya crossing.

Our vision

lighten law

Each day law gets more complex and technical, however it should never get in your way. We help you clarify all legal aspects of your projects and find the smartest path towards their success.

lighten costs

We support fair and realistic fees in relation to your needs. We banish hourly rates and offer flat fees as often as possible, and will always strive to deliver the best value for money.

lighten up the mood

Time spent with your lawyers should never be a tough time. We believe in serious work performed in cheerful atmospheres, and that a zest of fancy and bad puns will save the world.

Our ethical and environmental charter

Low environmental impact

Upcycling, second-hand furniture and striving for the lowest amount of paperwork - we do our best to reduce the environmental impact of our business.

Protecting your data (for real)

Data protection lawyers cannot do other than protect personal data: we (really) comply with data protection laws and will host your data on our own secured environment. Only our emails are outsourced, with a Swiss top-tier hosting service. Feel free to ask for our security policy!

Sharing is caring

We believe that access to law is a pillar of an inclusive and democratic society. Therefore we offer some of our time and knowledge freely to various charity organizations, communities and impactful startup incubators.

Our 1% policy

1 percent of all our fees is given to non-profit organizations we support - the French Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux for Adrien and Emmaüs Connect for Mathias.
